天涯社区 high schools offer a comprehensive program that includes a variety of options for the advanced learner. Advanced Placement, Honors, College Preparatory, Career and Technical, Elective, Athletic, Art, and Club program options exist to build an individualized academic plan for each student. GATE identification is not required to access any high school course option.听

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAM INFORMATION
All 天涯社区 students in grades 10-12 may register for an AP Exam based on space and availability. Students in 10th grade and above do not need to go through the District Office to register for AP exams. Please go directly to your high school.
Students in grades 9 and below, who are not concurrently enrolled in the 天涯社区 AP course for the exam requested, must receive approval from the 天涯社区 District Office AP Early Access Exam Committee before registering for an exam at any 天涯社区 High School.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. My听天涯社区听9th听grade student is interested in taking an AP Exam this year. How do I proceed?
All 天涯社区 students in grades ten through twelve may register for an AP Exam based on space and availability within our district. Students in grades nine and below, that are not concurrently enrolled in the 天涯社区 AP course for the exam requested, must receive approval from the 天涯社区 District Office AP Early Access Exam Committee before registering for an exam at any 天涯社区 High School.听Please fill out the AP听Early Exam request听process form linked above. Due to space limitations, priority will be first be given to seniors, juniors, then sophomore and finally freshmen.听
Please note: students currently enrolled in听9th听grade AP Human Geography at Woodbridge High School do not need to contact our department. They may register for the AP exam per Woodbridge鈥檚 registration process.听
2.听 If I take听an AP exam as a 9th grader after I self-study for the exam, do I still need to take the course in high school?听听
It depends. If you receive a passing score on the AP exam, you may not be eligible to take the course at your high school. It is advised that you do not self-study for an AP exam that is part of your high school plan. You will need these credits for graduation requirements and the exam only option does not provide credits. For more information, contact your high school counselor.听
3. The following AP courses are only open to students enrolled in the course due to the additional requirements of the exam.听

** Our Board-Approved Math pathway encourages students to accelerate in math by moving through content quicker in the Enhanced Math courses; the math pathway does not recommend students skipping any courses. There are unforeseen possibilities of missing concepts, skills, or necessary high school credits by skipping coursework. 4.听My 天涯社区 10th, 11th, or 12th grade student is interested in taking an AP Exam this year. How do I proceed?
Review the听Advanced Placement Exams list above for exam availability within听天涯社区. Then, contact your student鈥檚 High School directly to obtain registration details.
5. My听9th听grade student does not attend an听天涯社区听school. Can they register for an AP Exam through听天涯社区?
No. 天涯社区听does not offer AP exam registration to听non-天涯社区听students in听9th听grade or below.听 For grades 10 and higher you may be able to register for an AP exam. After reviewing the master list of available courses, please reach out directly to the site AP Coordinator听to check for听availability.听
6. What if I鈥檓 Home-Schooled or at a school that doesn鈥檛 offer AP?
You may be able to take the AP Exam by arranging to test at a participating school.听Contact AP Services at (888) 225-5427 or听apstudents@info.collegeboard.org听to get the names and telephone numbers of local, participating AP coordinators willing to test outside students.
Call the AP coordinators identified by AP Services. When calling coordinators to arrange testing, make sure to tell them you are trying to locate a school willing to administer exams to homeschooled students or students from schools that do not offer AP Exams. If you attend a school that doesn鈥檛 offer AP, you should not use the school code for the school where you are testing. Instead, make sure to use your own school鈥檚 code so your exam score(s) will be reported to your school. Obtain your school鈥檚 six-digit code from your principal or school counselor before exam day. If you are home-schooled, use the state or international home-school/self-study code that will be given to you on the day of the exam.
